Pre-Eid activation merchandise with Unilever

Having been in the market with credibility of some of the most skilled crafters and finest products, The Crafter’s Guild had the opportunity to work with Unilever to execute a campaign before Eid ul Fitr 2023. The idea was to offer consumers relatable merchandise to incentivize shopping and purchases with their products. To do so, a number of items connected with Eid gifting and accessorizing were short listed for review and sampling.

The products were finalized and a count of nearly 5000 units was to be procured in a committed time frame. Initially, only four women led businesses were confirmed to partake this task. Due to time restrictions and the volume of items anticipated, it was a bigger opportunity to extend this project to more women based businesses to manage timelines and production.

The primary mission of The Crafter’s Guild was to ensure that all products met the established quality standards, were delivered on time, and could be efficiently packaged for transport to various cities. Additionally, The Crafter’s Guild worked to optimize the logistics process and oversee the arrival of goods at the warehouse, conducting thorough counts and inspections. Moreover, it played a crucial role in managing financial transactions between the organization, the agency, and the women crafters who were the beneficiaries.

This comprehensive approach not only provided essential support to the women involved but also established a systematic framework for communication, met deadlines, and alleviated the pressures associated with corporate dealings, particularly for those who were unfamiliar with such processes and protocols. These projects served as a powerful catalyst for empowering women financially, offering them courage, motivation, and a sense of inclusion in the process.

    I started this small start up of mine in the beginning of this year 2023, morally supported by some close friends and parents. I began with handmade scrunchies in different fabric including silk, velvet and printed satin. I will be diversifying my business with new products such as heat-less curling kit as well as head bands in the future. Ive showcased my business and my scrunchies in different craft shows and bazaar which gave me overwhelming response and motivation to continue with greater zeal.

    My small startup faced initial challenges and struggled to attract customers or generate revenue. In fact, I didn't receive a good response at carnival stalls where I initially tried to sell my products. However, I didn't give up and learned from my mistakes.
